“For the Love of Boxes” by Ruth Greening
Boxes, boxes.....my goodness I love boxes, especially tiny ones! I ‘have to’ open the lid and imagine what special treasure I could keep in that special box! Sometimes there is already a surprise inside waiting to be discovered. You never really know until you hold it in your hand and s l o w l y lift the lid! There is no limit to shape or size but for me making the box is even more special. I have an idea when I start but in the making it takes on a life of its own and th

"Racing In The Rain" by Sue Morganroth
"Racing the Rain" was inspired by life in Olympia and its beautiful waters. I often feel like I'm racing the rain, hoping to get outside and enjoy our beautiful environment before the rain starts. In this mosaic the rain is in a green kayak because without rain our beautiful northwest wouldn't be so special. The glass tiles are on a board that reminds me of our docks, whitewashed and weathered. Hope you enjoy "Racing the Rain" as much as I enjoyed creating it. View unveilin

"Riffle Hunters" by Connie McGuire
THE SUBJECT: This is a depiction of river otters in their home environment, going over and under rocks, logs and whatever is around them to play, hunt and travel. The otters are hand carved basswood painted with acrylic. The full otter is approximately 6 inches long and 2 inches wide. The base is inspirationally designed and masterfully created by Rebecca Kroh Carter of Splash Gallery. THE PROCESS: The idea for the subject of course comes first. This piece was inspired by one

"Blue Me Away" by Eunice King
One sunny and not-so-cold day in January, I took a walk to the beach. The scenery at the South tip of Puget Sound is so awesomely inspiring. As an Artist, it is both overwhelming and wonderful to see the colors and textures and all the living beauty of our local nature. This day, Mount Rainier was out and dressed in Winter White. The waves lapping in did not need to be tried, you could tell the water was frigidly cold. A lone Blue Heron was out hunting. Nothing bothered him –

"Light Through the Trees" by Buffie Finkel
I love paths. I love roads that tease us with “what is around that bend?” I have played with various fabrics and color schemes to tantalize and invite inquiry, as well as stir the imagination. These smaller works are popular images, and I’ve enjoyed trying different techniques to create them. My work till this point has largely been opaque, as I sew several layers of material and batting together, place the raw edge applique over this, add paint and or thread paint as the fin

"Solar Sisters" by Rebecca Carter
I have been with Splash Gallery since 2015. I am honored to be a part of such a group of talented and gifted artists. I am an abstract/mixed media artist who loves nature and beautiful bold colors. My work reflects my moods and my environment. At times I have a general idea where my painting or resin sculpture will take me but most often I let the materials and paint take me where they want to go. Those are my most satisfying pieces. I often combine earths treasures in

"The Promise of Spring" by Katherine Ransom
I painted this piece as my father was in and out of the hospital fighting Covid pneumonia and while the country was being torn apart. As conditions worsened, my mood shifted and I began to brace myself for a bigger storm. Slowly and intermittently there were signs of improvement and hope. Every storm runs out of rain. What’s left in the aftermath is the promise of a new season, which brings the chance for rebirth and to strengthen our resolve. 36” x 36” oil on canvas, black w
