"Life in Washington" is a 5 x 14-inch pyrography piece on basswood. Featuring scenes of different views throughout Washington, this piece was inspired by the beautiful natural imagery that is offered by this environment. As fog moves in to cover a cozy cabin nestled along a flowing river, Mt. Rainier looks over the iconic city of Seattle.
Maggie often uses basswood for her pyrography projects due to its light color, a small amount of grain, and ability to accept details and fine lines. Basswood, also known as Lime wood or Linden, is a hardwood that is native to North America's East Coast and is great for many woodworking projects.
