Meet the Artist: Ruth Greening

In Ruth's own words: "I am happy to introduce you to my art and my passions. My love of creating jewelry has been a journey of many years. The bulk of my work is now in the realm of traditional Silversmithing skills. I also have many years of experience using and teaching Precious Metal Clay and Classical Wire Wrapping.

In my Silversmith work, I love to use unusual, beautiful natural stones which I get from some of the best lapidary artists in the U.S., for the creation of one of a kind settings in silver and/or copper.

I also have a passion for teaching the amazing versatility that Precious Metal Clay (PMC) offers, and the precise finessing of wire, to build beautiful classic settings in the art of Wire Wrapping."

Ruth is a very adventurous soul, whose life experiences have included:

1) swimming as a mermaid in underwater shows at Weeki Wachee Springs in Florida

2) working with the Flipper dolphins at Miami Seaquarium

3) living in Hawaii, setting National age-class records in Power Lifting

4) doing an 11,000-mile motorcycle tour of the US on her Harley !!!

The traits of curiosity, exploration and enterprise that motivated those adventures, are the same ones that fuel her incursion into the world of accessory art. Ruth is a talented and industrious artist and craftswoman,

who has worked very diligently at honing her skills, knowledge and experience, with the goal of producing One-Of-A-Kind Wearable Art.

Her passion is in the skill of Silversmith work. She has sought out the best instructors in the field to learn from, and spends many hours honing her skills in her studio. With her love of thinking outside the box, she is always stretching and improving her skills to design and execute new ideas for designs. Her love of natural semi-precious stones is a never-ending resource for new and exciting pieces.

Another large part of Ruth Greening Designs is instruction. With close to 20 years working with Precious Metal Clay (PMC) Ruth has taught many students about the incredible versatility of silver, and in so doing, drew out the inner artist in many of them.

Another wonderful skill, which actually opened the door to making jewelry, is Classical Wire Wrap, which uses beautiful natural stones as the main focus of the piece.
